Hello.
I hope you are having a good Lent. We have several events that are happening. We have a Plam Sunday Luncheon. This is like what we did around Christmas time. This time it will be at "The Bean Sprout." I am very excited to see everyone there.
We are well into the season of Lent. This is a time to think of our sins and the things we want to change about ourselves. Maybe we need to be more generous, maybe we are called to be more involved in church, or even to pray more often. This is the time the church tries to re-focus on Jesus.
Our Gospel this week was the story of Jesus turning over the tables in the temple. There is one line in the story that should catch our eye: 'My devotion to your house burns in me like a fire.' Why should this line catch us?
We know that God is in the church. We know that Jesus has a lot of devotion (love) for God's house. Jesus did not want anyone to do anything bad in his Father's house. He wanted God's house to be full of love and kindness. Are we kind and helpful in church? Do we remember that it is God's house and not just another place?
God is also in the world. God wants us to take care of his house in the world. This means many different things. Do we litter or do we put our trash in a trash can? Do we try to save electricity? Do we turn off lights when we are not using them?
And God is also in each person and ourselves. When we become angry, do we remember we are talking to Jesus? When we hurt ourselves or do dangerous things, do we remember we each carry Jesus? Would we do those things to Jesus?
God is in all these things. Jesus was very devoted to everything which has God in it. He is so committed to these things that Jesus died for them. We remember this on Good Friday (This year it is on April 10th.) I recommend coming if you can on that day.
Thank you all- See you on Sunday!
